The New Deal on Energy for Africa, which aims to accelerate energy investments to reach universal access to electricity by 2025, was the subject of a press conference at the 2016 World Economic Forum in davos, Switzerland. According to the African Development Bank, 645 million Africans currently have no access to elecricity, and more than 700 million have no access to clean cooking energy. While African accounts for 15 percent of the glbal population, it accounts for 53 percent of the population in the world without access to electricity.
